Warm Season
Grasses
After they’re established, warm season grasses such as Zoysia, Bermuda,
St. Augustine, and Centipede require less maintenance, less water, and
less fertilizer. Some of the grasses are better suited to certain landscape
areas than others, but all can thrive in the sun and dry weather. Learn
about the benefits of warm season grasses, the differences between them,
and how to convert fescue to a warm season grass.

Proper Tree
Planting, Placement, and Irrigation
Young trees have the promise of delivering great value to your home site.
If the right tree is planted the right way in the right place and maintained
in the right way, it will add to your health and enjoyment. However, if
any of these steps is done wrong, the tree can become a costly eyesore,
or simply die.
You'll see the simple
steps to growing a drought proof tree, with an indoor presentation and
an outdoor demonstration of sustainable tree planting. You'll take home
new information about trees and a new appreciation of how simple it is
to grow them, and you may be the lucky winner of our free tree drawing!
• Sunday, May
15 from 1-2:30 p.m., Town Operations Center at 400 James Jackson Ave.
Trees and
Water-Wise Landscaping
Trees can conserve water in your landscape, creating a cooler and healthier
place to live. They can also waste your time and water. Follow our straightforward
steps to growing water-wise trees in your landscape, from an indoor presentation
to an outdoor presentation. We'll look at strategies for creating Rain
Gardens, nipping problems "in the bud" before they cost you
dearly, and extending the safe useful life of older trees. Bring in pictures
or clippings of your problem trees and we will look for ways to effectively
deal with those challenges. You'll take home some technologies, old and
new.
• Sunday, June
5 1-2:30 p.m., Town of Cary Operations Center at 400 James Jackson Ave.

Troubleshooting
Irrigation System Problems
The class is designed so that homeowners will understand the basic features

should it be replaced; what is a backflow prevention device, how do I
set my irrigation controller; how do I know if my irrigation system has
a leak or not? This class will give residents an understanding of their
irrigation system so that problems are prevented and so that the system
operates efficiently.
